Xingtian (刑天)

The description from Classic of Mountains and Seas

"形天与帝(至此)争神,帝断其首,葬之常羊之山,乃以乳为目,以脐为口,操干威以舞。"

Xingtian and Emperor Tian compete for the throne of God. Emperor Tian cut off Xingtian's head and buried his head in Changyang Mountain. The headless Xingtian use his nipples as eyes, and his navel as mouth. He holds a shield in one hand and a big axe in another hand while dancing.

Reading the Book of Mountains and Seas (读山海经)

"刑天舞干戚,猛志固常在"

The defeated Xingtian continued to fight with his axe and shield. His unyielding spirit still existed.

Taiping Yulan (太平御览)

"无首民,乃与帝争神,帝斩其首,敕之北野,以乳为目,脐为口。去玉门三万里。"

After Xing Tian was beheaded, a tribe was born. The entire tribe was headless. They use nipples as eyes, and navel as mouth. They were exiled to 30,000 miles outside Yumen Pass.

Lushi (路史)

"炎帝(神农)乃命邢天作《扶犁》之乐,制《丰年》之咏,以荐厘来,是曰《卜谋》。"

Xingtian was a minister under Emperor Yan. He loved songs in his life. Emperor Yan ordered Xingtian to compose the music "Fuli" and the poem "Fengnian". The general name is "Xiamou" to praise the happy life of the people at that time.
